HARTFORD, Conn. (WTIC Radio) - Hartford Mayor Arunan Arulampalam announced today that the nominee for Hartford Police Chief, Philadelphia Police Department Captain Tyrell McCoy, has withdrawn his name from consideration due to personal reasons.
No specific personal reasons have been cited, however.
"While we are disappointed, we respect Captain McCoy’s decision," said Mayor Arulampalam, in a written statement.
"We remain committed to finding the right leader for our police department who will continue our work in community-oriented policing and public safety."
The search for a new police chief nominee will resume immediately, with Interim Chief Kenny Howell continuing his duties.
The Mayor's office says it will provide updates on the selection process as they become available.
