HARTFORD, Conn. (WTIC Radio)_ Hartford Police arrest one of their Sergeants in connection with a use of force incident.
City Police say Sergeant James Guzie, 46, allegedly struck Felicia Jenkins, 44, during the booking process on Sunday, March 14, 2021.
Jenkins was being arrested in connection with a domestic disturbance. She was reported intoxicated and became belligerent toward officers during the arrest and booking process.
During the booking process, she is seen on camera hurling derogatory remarks at officers in the booking room.
At one point, she complained of "...two...white Trump supporters..." and spit toward Sergeant Guzie.
Camera footage shows Sergeant Guzie allegedly beaming over to Jenkins and striking her in the face, knocking her over.
Investigation says it is unclear if Sergeant Guzie was struck by saliva.
Guzie turned himself in to face a third degree assault charge, a misdemeanor. He was released on a promise to appear.
The Hartford State's Attorney's Office is investigating.
