Norwich, Conn./WTIC Radio - A woman and a young girl are dead following an early morning house fire Thursday in Norwich.
Just before 1:00 a.m., firefighters were called to the scene of a structure fire at 37-39 Otis Street.
Over a half dozen departments responded to the multi-family house.
Firefighters were forced to pull back and take defensive action as conditions deteriorated and initial attempts to find the victims were unsuccessful.
The fire was deemed under control around 4:30 a.m.
The names of the victims have not been released.
Three firefighters were treated for minor injuries.
Six people who were displaced are being assisted by the American Red Cross.
There's no word yet on a cause of the fire.
