Rocky Hill, Conn./WTIC Radio - The state inspector general's office has released a final report on a deadly police shooting in Bridgeport last year.

The incident unfolded March 31, 2025 with a large brawl on East Main Street, reportedly involving guns.

Police stopped a vehicle with Dyshan Best, 39, in the passenger seat.

Best stepped out the vehicle and took off down Kossuth Street, armed with a gun, according to the report.

Police gave chase on foot.

A taser was deployed, to no avail.

The report goes on to say Best turned toward police with the gun in his hand before officers opened fire.

The inspector general says the police shooting was justified under state law.
