Bolton, Conn./WTIC Radio - The state Office of Inspector General has released additional information on a shooting involving a state trooper in Bolton last Friday.
Just after 2:00 p.m., state police were called to the scene at 7 Meadow Road a report of a man experiencing a mental health crisis.
Maxim Nowak's family said the 29-year-old was threatening to harm himself and others.
Troopers Wendy Garcia-Campos, Doug Bernier and Brian Contenta were dispatched to the residence.
It was then they tried to engage Nowak, who was armed with two knives.
A preliminary report says Nowak refused repeated commands to drop the knives.
When he raised one of the knives, Bernier deployed a taser and Contenta discharged his firearm.
Nowak received multiple gunshot wounds and remains in Hartford Hospital.
The inspector general has released police body cam footage of the incident, which remains under investigation.
