Canterbury, Conn./WTIC Radio - The state inspector general has determined that a trooper trainee was justified in using force against a suspect in Canterbury last year.
It was August 24, 2022 when Ryan Marzi was tased during an incident on Westminster Road in which a trooper attempted to apprehend Marzi during a domestic call.
The inspector general's report says the taser was deployed for about a minute as Marzi and a trooper struggled.
The trooper sustained a knee injury.
Police were able to eventually cuff the suspect and place him under arrest.
Marzi was taken to a hospital but died four days later from a blood clot.
