Manchester, Conn./WTIC Radio - The Office of Inspector General has released additional information on a police involved shooting over the weekend in Manchester.

Just after 6:30 p.m. Sunday, Police Officer Haylee Ouellette responded to the scene at 243-A North Main Street.

Officials say when she entered the apartment, Ouellette was confronted by Joseph Diloreto, who was brandishing a knife.

They say he slapped the officer's hand away as she tried to stop him, yelling for Ouellette to shoot him.

Investigators say Diloreto ignored repeated commands by Ouellette to drop the knife, forcing her to deploy her taser, to no avail.

Officials say Diloreto continued advancing toward the officer, ignoring her commands as she reteated to an outside courtyard.

Ouellette discharged her service weapon multiple times, hitting Diloreto in the upper left thigh.

She was able to secure the knife after the suspect dropped to the ground.

He is currently being treated at Hartford Hospital.
