Suffield, Conn./WTIC Radio - State correction officials say an East Hartford man who'd been serving a 20-year sentence for sexual assault apparently took his own life early Thursday morning.
The Department of Correction says Jaishon Bellamy, 27, was found in his cell at MacDougall Walker Correctional Institute with a bedsheet tied around his neck.
A correction officer noticed Bellamy's cell window was obstructed.
According to a preliminary report, the inmate didn't respond when asked to remove the covering.
He was pronounced dead at an area hospital.
The DOC says Bellamy is the inmate accused of attacking a female correction officer earlier this week at Osborn Correctional Institute in Somers.
