NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTIC Radio) - Fans of Jimmy Kimmel Live! in Connecticut will be able to watch the show again on a local station as Nexstar and Sinclair end their pre-empting of Kimmel's show on their ABC affiliate stations, about two weeks after Kimmel's remarks on the assassination of Charlie Kirk.

“We have had discussions with executives at The Walt Disney Company and appreciate their constructive approach to addressing our concerns,” Nexstar, the parent company of WTNH TV Ch. 8 in New Haven, said in a statement.

“As a local broadcaster, Nexstar remains committed to protecting the First Amendment while producing and airing local and national news that is fact-based and unbiased and, above all, broadcasting content that is in the best interest of the communities we serve,” the statement continued.

Sinclair said their decision was a response to feedback from viewers, advertisers, and their broadcast communities.

The Connecticut Citizen Action Group held a protest Thursday outside the WTNH studios to demand the show be brought back to the airwaves, citing, in part, free speech issues.
