Hartford, Conn./WTIC Radio - A federal judge has given the go ahead for construction to resume on a wind project advocates say would a boon to power generation in the region.
On Monday, a stay was granted for the stop work order by the Trump Administration that halted work this summer on the Revolution Wind project off Block Island.
That, despite the project being about 80% complete.
In a statement, Danish company Orsted said "Revolution Wind will continue to seek to work collaboratively with the US Administration and other stakeholders toward a prompt resolution."
"Today’s ruling allowing Revolution Wind to resume work is extremely encouraging for workers and our energy future. We will continue to engage with the federal government on a durable path forward for this project and on shared energy priorities,” said Governor Lamont.
The Trump Administration cited national security concerns for issuing the stop work order.
Revolution Wind would supply 704 MW of offshore wind energy, enough for 350,000 homes in Connecticut and Rhode Island, the company said.
