Konstantinos (Kosta) Diamantis apparently fled the country for Greece before a sentencing hearing at U.S. District Court in Bridgeport over his 2025 conviction in a bribery case.
Diamantis, 70, a former Lamont administration budget official, was facing up to 10 years in federal prison at sentencing over accepting bribes in exchange for the release of state funding.
His attorney, Norm Pattis didn't have a comment concerning his client's whereabouts before the 10 a.m. hearing.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Jeffrey Francis and prosecutor David Novick declined comment, as well.
U.S. District Court Judge Stefan Underhill allowed Diamantis to remain free on bond, despite an earlier admission Diamantis made that he obtained a Greek passport while awaiting trial as a dual U.S.-Greek citizen.
Diamantis had been adamant that he never used his public position for bribes or favors.
