Hamden, Conn./WTIC Radio - Quinnipiac University has released the results of its latest poll on the Connecticut gubernatorial race.

Overall, it finds Democratic incumbent Ned Lamont leading Republican state Senator Ryan Fazio by a 55-38% margin.


The majority of Democrats back Lamont, 93%, and the majority of Republicans favor Fazio at 86%.

It's closer among among independents with Lamont leading Fazio, 48-to-42%.

The majority of respondents cite the cost of living and economy as the two most important issues.

The poll surveyed 1,288 Connecticut likely voters from September 8th - 14th with a margin of error of +/- 3.8 percentage points, including the design effect.

In other campaign news, two debates have been scheduled in the final weeks of the race. Lamont and Fazio will meet at WFSB-TV in Rocky Hill on Oct. 22. They'll debate again Oct. 27 at Mohegan Sun.
