Hartford, Conn./WTIC Radio - Governor Lamont has activated the state's cold weather protocol.
It will remain in effect until next Monday at noon.
In between, Lamont has directed the appropriate state agencies to coordinate to make sure Connecticut's most vulnerable citizens receive protections from the bitter cold over the next several days.
Agencies, municipalities and United Way 2-1-1 will work to ensure there's enough shelter space for those who need it.
It is the first time this season the cold weather protocol has been activated.
