
WEST HARTFORD, CONN (WTIC Radio)-To ease one of the barriers faced by new nursing students, the Lamont administration has announced it's
waiving the initial application fees.
The fees can range from $40 to $200. Waiving the fees will cost the state approximately $2.5 million.
Lamont, Department of Public Health Commissioner Dr.Manisha Juthani and others made the announcement at the University of Hartford.
The school has a new Bachelor of Science in Nursing program, its first class graduating last May.
Nursing Dean Cesarina Thompson said the additional fees will delay students from registering until they have adequate funds.
She also said delays are also associated with lower first-time pass rates on the exam.
