The Connecticut Inspector General releases a preliminary report in the Hartford and Rocky Hill officer-involved shooting that killed a man Friday night.
The IG says Hector Perez, 37, was threatening to shoot someone in the area of Fales Street before he fled the area when Hartford Officer Alexander Diaz arrived at the scene.
When Officer Diaz caught up with Perez, a struggled ensued. Officer Diaz believed he felt a gun in Perez's waistband. Perez was able to get away from the struggle and flee in a Honda.
The pursuit ended on Webster Court in Newington, where a shooting began.
Perez was killed. Officer Diaz and Rocky Hill Officer Jon Escobar were hurt but later treated at a local hospital.
A woman who was in the car with Perez fled and hasn't been identified.
The shooting remains under IG investigation.
