New Haven, Conn./WTIC Radio - A man is under arrest after New Haven police say he set a mattress on fire at a city shelter Thursday.
Just after 10:00 p.m., officers were called to the Liberty Safe Haven on State Street after a fire alarm was activated.
The blaze caused fire and water damage from the sprinkler system to a unit on the fourth floor, police said.
Doel Tirado, 45, is accused of setting the fire intentionally.
He was later arrested without incident.
Tirado is charged with arson and reckless endangerment.
Police also say Tirado had two outstanding warrants for violation of probation and failure to appear.
He's being held on bond.
