A Terryville man is charged with sexually assaulting a 13-year-old girl in a Newington store last month.
Police say that on May 14, a witness reported seeing suspect Anthony Anselmo, 64, following the girl around Saver's on Berlin Tpk. When the girl, who is autistic, walked away from her mother, the man approached her. After a commotion, the girl told the witness that the male "touched her."
The suspect ran out of the store to a black motorcycle and took off. Newington police later identified the suspect, who has open cases in Danbury and Hartford courts for "similar type incidents."
Anselmo turned himself in Monday, and is free on a $150,000 bond, charged with 3rd degree sexual assault, risk on injury to a child and breach of peace. He's scheduled to appear in New Britain Superior Court on June 27.
