Hartford, Conn./WTIC Radio - A native of Mexico with ties to a drug trafficking ring in Connecticut was in court this afternoon in Hartford.

Federal prosecutors say Ronier Sanchez was a co-pilot aboard a private jet who allegedly attempted to help fly 17-hundred kilos of cocaine from orginiating in South America and bound for the U.S. in 2016.
Alonzo was arrested in Paraguay in 2021 and has been held since.
Court papers show Sanchez conspired to move the drugs on a private jet registered in Connecticut from the Dominican Republic to Venezuela.
From there the drugs would be loaded on to trucks bound for Mexico and then into the U.S.
The plane crash landed just short of a landing strip in Venezuela.
Sanchez and other co-conspirators were later captured by Venezuelan authorities and the cocaine was diverted back to Colombia.
