Southington, Conn./WTIC Radio - State police have released the name of the man accused of striking a trooper with his vehicle Thursday, leaving him dead on the side of a busy highway.
Under arrest is Alex Oyola-Sanchez, 44, of Hartford.
Trooper First Class Aaron Pelletier was conducting a traffic stop on eastbound Interstate 84 in Southington when investigators say Oyola-Sanchez struck Pelletier with his vehicle before fleeing the scene.
Pelletier was pronounced dead at the scene.
Oyola-Sanchez was stopped and arrested on I-84 in Farmington.
He is facing a number of charges, among them manslaughter with a motor vehicle, evading responsibility resulting in death, failure to drive in a proper lane, and operating a vehicle without insurance, among others.
Bond was set at $5 million.
TFC Pelletier was a nine year veteran of the Connecticut State Police, a husband, and a father of two sons.
His remains are being escorted in a procession of police vehicles from the medical examiner's office to Della Vecchia Funeral Home in Southington.
