Man charged with DUI in Southbury bus crash that injured students

SOUTHBURY, Conn. (WTIC Radio) - Southbury Police arrest a man in connection with a crash that involved two students who were ejected from a school bus.

Police say Richard Estey, 65, of Southbury, struck a Region 14 school bus that was transporting students on Southford Road near Jeremy Swamp Road around 2:38 p.m. on Wednesday.

The impact on the bus pushed it into a third vehicle that was traveling northbound on Southford Road.

Two students were ejected from the bus. Several other occupants suffered injuries. Some of the injuries were considered serious but police say all injured people are in stable condition with non-life-threatening injuries.

Estey is charged with driving under the influence and failure to obey a traffic control signal. Bond is $25,000.
