Man charged in Vernon crash involving town police cruiser

VERNON, Conn. (WTIC Radio) - Vernon Police charge a 21-year-old man in connection with a crash Thursday that involved a Vernon police cruiser.

Kiaelon Sheets, 21, of Vernon, was fleeing a scene Thursday and ultimately got involved in a crash with a Vernon police cruiser, before allegedly taking off on foot.


Sheets is charged with first-degree reckless endangerment, first-degree threating, criminal attempt at second-degree assault with a motor vehicle, escape from custody, interfering with an officer, second-degree criminal mischief, failure to obey traffic control signal, failure to drive in the proper lane, reckless driving and speeding.

The charges stem from an incident where Sheets threatened his landlord and damaged his property on February 10, 2022.

Sheets was held in lieu of a $150,000 surety bond and is scheduled to appear in Rockville Superior Court on February 14, 2022.
