Man seriously injured in domestic-related car crash

SOUTHINGTON, Conn. (WTIC Radio)_ Southington Police are investigating a domestic-related car crash that injured a man Thursday afternoon.

A witness called police around 3:30 p.m. to report an accident between a car and pedestrian in the area of West Street near the ramps for I-84.


Police say Diane Skwiot, 57, of Southington, intentionally drove her 2014 Dodge Avenger into a male pedestrian on the side of the bridge on West Street.

Skwiot allegedly got out of the car and briefly stood near the vehicle before walking away from the scene.

Officers located Skwiot near the I-84 Westbound off-ramp.

Police confirm a relationship between Skwiot and the victim but wouldn't go into details on specifics of it, at this time.

Skwiot was taken into custody and has been transported to an area hospital, where she is being evaluated. She will be charged with assault in the first degree, with additional charges pending.

The Victim was transported to an area hospital, where he is being treated in the Intensive Care unit and listed in critical condition.
