Newington, Conn./WTIC Radio - A man is in custody after he spent several hours Tuesday barricaded in a condominium unit in Newington.
The situation unfolded around noon when Newington police were alerted that Michael Elliott, 32, of New Haven may be en route to a residence at the Country Side Condos on Webster Court in violation of a protective order.
Police say Elliott was alone in one the units when they arrived.
When he refused multiple requests to exit the unit, the Capital Region Emergency Response Team was called in and able to convince Elliott to surrender around 4:30.
Elliott faces chargs of violation of a protective order, criminal trespass, breach of peace and interfering with police.
He was scheduled to be arraigned today in New Britain Superior Court.
