An afternoon fire at a breakfast spot in Mansfield Center has resulted in its permanent closure.
Fire officials say fire broke out at Momma's Comfort Foods at about 2 pm Monday. The restaurant was closed at the time.
The building, which is a former house, is deemed a total loss.
One firefighter suffered a sprained ankle, and two cats who lived in an apartment upstairs perished.
Momma's owner Kelly Brocuglio announced the restaurant's permanent closure on Facebook, saying that he and his family are devastated. He bought the business in 2017, according to the Journal Inquirer.
