WEST HARTFORD, Conn. (WTIC Radio) - West Hartford Police have arrested a Mansfield man in connection with a shooting Tuesday night that seriously injured a man.
Christon Mitchell, 32, of Mansfield, allegedly shot a man in the face Tuesday night around 9 p.m. at a residence on Maplewood Avenue. The victim was seriously injured and was taken to an area hospital.
Several children were inside the residence at the time of the shooting but were not injured.
Farmington Police deployed tire deflation devices to stop Mitchell from fleeing officers in pursuit. West Hartford Police took Mitchell into custody without incident.
Mitchell is a convicted felon on the Connecticut Deadly Weapon Registry and is currently on Federal Probation for previous weapons charges, according to officials.
Mitchell has been charged with criminal attempt at murder, first-degree assault, home invasion, risk of injury to a child, criminal possession of a pistol/revolver, illegal discharge of a firearm, first-degree threatening, and first-degree reckless endangerment.
He is currently being held on a $2-million dollar surety bond pending arraignment Friday.
