Member of Governor Lamont's staff tests positive for

HARTFORD, Conn. (WTIC Radio)_ The Office of the Governor has announced a member of Governor Ned Lamont's staff has tested positive for COVID-19.

Director of Communications, Max Reiss, in separate written statement, announced he has tested positive and that he does not know where he caught COVID. He is not exhibiting any symptoms and is home in isolation.


Chief of Staff Paul Mounds says it is the first known case of the coronavirus to within the Governor's Office.

The Governor is tested twice weekly.

There are no known additional positive cases at this time.

Contact tracing is underway. All members of the Lamont administration who have been in close contact will self-quarantine for fourteen days.

“We are taking this case seriously and observing all protocols to keep the governor, his family, and all of our staff members and their families safe,” Mounds said.

Although it is not clear if the Governor has had direct contact with this individual, he will immediately begin the process of self-quarantining, as will multiple members of the governor’s senior staff, including Mounds and Chief Operating Officer Josh Geballe.
