Manchester, Conn./WTIC Radio - It was a record setting Thanksgiving Day at the Manchester Road Race Thursday.

Twenty-nine-year-old Kenyan Edwin Kurgat became the first man to run the course in under 21 minutes, finishing in 20 minutes 52 seconds.

"I was really excited for this one," said Kurgat. "I came strategically and I had a strategy and knew what I wanted to do and just executed my race."

It was old hat for the women's champion.

Weini Kelati won her fifth consecutive road race.

"The wind made it a little bit harder today but, I couldn't get a faster time. But I'm really happy with the win," she said.

Kelati finished the race with a time of 23 minutes 16 seconds.
