Hartford, Conn. (WTIC Radio)-Several Connecticut Transit bus routes transporting passengers into Hartford face suspension Monday because of failed contract talks between bus company DATTCO and the Department of Transportation, Dattco Vice President of Sales Kyle DeVivo said.

The bus routes into Hartford originate from Waterbury, Cheshire, Bristol, Southington, Old Saybrook, Chester, Essex and Middletown.

DeVivo said his company has enjoyed a four-decade relationship with the DOT. But since the state agency stopped funding the service last September, it has cost Dattco $200 thousand to continue the bus routes.

"And there's not been any progress in negotiations. We're reached a point where itis not financially feasible, given everything our business has been through in the last two years," DeVivo said.

Formal contract talks haven't been held in the last few months. Devivo said he worries riders will not return to the commuter service once they discover alternate transportation.

This impasse does not affect school bus operations.
