Windsor Locks, Conn./WTIC Radio - The state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection is warning drivers to be aware of moose after one was spotted once again in Windsor Locks.

DEEP says the animal was seen Tuesday evening near exit 40 south on Interstate 91.

Back in June, officials say a moose was spotted on the grounds of the outer perimeter of Bradley International Airport.

Officials say its particulary important to keep a close eye on the roads for moose or other wildlife like bears and deer this time of year now that the sun is setting earlier and rising later.

Connecticut's moose population is relatively small--only about 100.

But they can cause significant injury or damage to a vehicle when hit say wildlife biologists.

To that end, DEEP advises motorists when driving at dawn and dusk, to keep their eyes peeled higher than normal and reduce speed in the event you have to come to a sudden stop.
