NORTH HAVEN, Conn. (WTIC Radio) - Connecticut State Police say a moose struck by a car is dead.
A car struck the moose in the area of Exit 63 in North Haven on the northbound side of Route 15 - The Wilbur Cross Parkway.
It follows recent moose sighting warnings from the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection.
There have been moose reports within 5 miles of I-84 and Route 8 in Waterbury and Watertown. There have been other moose sighting reports in East Granby, within 5 miles of I-91.
The DEEP says this is the time of year when moose are moving throughout Connecticut.
It's estimated Connecticut's moose population is around 100.
