NAUGATUCK, Conn. (WTIC Radio) - Naugatuck Police say one of their lieutenants, injured in a hit-and-run in early November, has been released from the hospital.
Lieutenant Mark Pettinicchi was discharged from Waterbury Hospital on Friday, following two and a half weeks of complex surgeries.
He was transported by ambulance to a long-term rehab facility where he will continue his recovery from the injuries he sustained on November 4, 2021, when a fleeing suspect struck him.
"Lieutenant Pettinicchi ‘s journey is far from over," according to a statement the Naugatuck Police Department released.
"He has continually drawn strength from the support he has seen from the community and it has helped him on his road to healing," according to officers.
