New Britain, Conn./WTIC Radio - New Britain's police chief is hanging up his badge.
Chief Christopher Chute is retiring after 26 years on the force.
Chute has led the department since 2019.
In a statement, Chief Chute said “It has been an honor to serve the city where I was born and raised, but it’s time to move on and start
the next chapter of my career.”
Mayor Erin Stewart said “Chief Chute has done a great job of leading the New Britain Police Department through
unprecedented times, most notably a worldwide pandemic.”
Chute is set to leave in January, at which time an interim chief will be named.
He is a third generation New Britain Police Officer.
His father, grandfather, brother, and two uncles were also New Britain officers.
