NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTIC Radio) - New Haven Police release a statement concerning the death of Denise Leary, amid speculation of a serial killer roaming New England.
Acknowledging speculation on social media that there's a serial killer lurking in New England, Police say the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner has ruled her death as "undetermined," adding there are no apparent signs of foul play.
Leary was reported missing on September 30, 2024, and her remains were found a short distance away from her residence on March 20, 2025.
Police say their investigation, which began the day she was reported missing, focused on interviews with her family and friends and also took them to local hospitals, shelters, and hotels. The search also included a review of cell phone data, financial records, and handwriting/DNA analysis.
Their investigation has not determined any indication of criminality in her disappearance but is asking anyone with information to contact New Haven Police.
