The City of New Haven is swearing in David Zannelli as its next Police Chief.
Zannelli has been serving as the Interim Chief, after Former Chief Karl Jacobson resigned amid allegations he allegedly stole police funds to pay a gambling debt.
Mayor Justin Elicker nominated Zannelli to lead the force in March. His nomination unanimously cleared the Board of Alders on Monday evening.
Zannelli joined the New Haven Police Department in 2008 and has steadily been promoted through the ranks.
His latest promotion makes him responsible for the leadership of over 400 officers in New Haven.
