NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTIC Radio) - New Haven Police are investigating a large fight that led to a stabbing and deadly overdose.
Officers responded to the report of an unconscious woman in the 300 block of Howard Avenue around 7:11 Thursday afternoon.
While the woman was being helped for an apparent overdose, officers say a man suffering from a stabbing approached responding fire personnel.
The woman later died at Yale New Haven Hospital. Her name hasn't been released.
The man was treated for non-life-threatening injuries and is now reported in stable condition. He hasn't been able to provide any information to investigators on a possible suspect(s) in the stabbing.
After speaking with witnesses, a crime scene was found at the intersection of First Street and Howard Avenue. It's believed a large fight broke out before the overdose and stabbing were reported.
