Hartford, Conn./WTIC Radio - January 1st brings with it a host of new laws in Connecticut.
Chief among them: a bump in the state's minimum wage.
That increases 66-cents, from $15.69 an hour to $16.35.
That does not include the federal minimum wage, which remains at $7.25 an hour, where its been the last 15 years.
Some of the other laws taking effect in 2025: an act expanding sick leave in the state.
Now, businesses with 25 or more employees must offer workers at least 40 hours of yearly sick leave.
There's also a new law covering coerced debt, which is created by a domestic abuser that sees their partner incurring massive credit card debt.
It's now on the companies to review such cases.
