There is word today of the death of Officer Alan Tancreti.
The department released a statement that read in part "Officer Tancreti suffered an unexpected medical emergency while he was off duty at his home."
Tancreti died Saturday.
The man known to his friends and colleagues as "Tank" leaves behind three children.
The statement goes on to say Tancreti "was ambitious, caring, supportive, and a great compliment to an amazing group of professionals."
