New Haven, Conn./WTIC Radio - Two New Haven police officers are off the job after their arrests last weekend in separate DUI cases while off-duty.
State police say just before 10:00 p.m. Saturday, they received multiple calls reporting an SUV swerving between lanes of Interstate 95 southbound near exit 26 in Bridgeport.
Troopers pulled over Officer Alexander Carr, 31, who failed field sobriety tests.
Carr, an eight year department veteran, began to resist as troopers attempted to take him into custody, taking him to the ground and placing him under arrest.
He was treated for minor injuries at St. Vincent's Medical Center.
Several hours later early Sunday morning, Officer Kenneth Cobb, 33, was arrested.
Troopers say Cobb, who has been an NHPD officer for nine years, ran a red light at Orange Street and South Frontage Road in New Haven and was slurring his words and smelled of alcohol when pulled over.
Cobb and Carr are facing DUI and other charges.
New Haven Police Chief Karl Jacobson says both officers are on paid administrative leave pending internal affairs investigations.
