HARTFORD, CONN(WTIC Radio)- Hartford, state officials and community action advocates are promoting participation in VITA, the free state and federal income tax preparation program, for those earning up to $64 thousand.
Mayor Arunan Arulampalam said in Hartford alone, two thousand participating in the program received one million dollars in earned income tax credits:
Officials said in addition to the average two thousand dollar return tax return, the state return is about 17-hundred dollars.
I-R-S trained volunteers prepare the returns.
