NORWICH, Conn. (WTIC Radio) - Norwich Police are investigating an early morning home invasion.
A 9-1-1 call around 5:38 a.m. reported a man inside a residence on Cliff Street with a gun.
Upon police arrival, a husband and wife were holding down the suspect on their bedroom flood. Three minor children were in the home at the time of the home invasion, one of which was in the parent's room.
The suspect, Jevon Sholl, 34, was armed with an assault rifle and during the struggle for the rifle, a shot was fired into the ceiling.
The suspect was transported to William W. Backus Hospital for injuries sustained during the fight over the rifle.
The residents believed there was a second suspect involved in the Home Invasion but fled. A K-9 search did not turn up a suspect. It's believed the suspect, who goes by the name "Mel," is armed and dangerous.
