PLAINVILLE, Conn. (WTIC Radio) - The Plainville Town Council is working to arrange a memorial ceremony in honor of fallen Volunteer Firefighter Raymond "Ray" Moreau.
The community is welcome to come together in Moreau's memory at Tinty Stadium at Plainville High School at 7 p.m. Tuesday.
Moreau died in the line of duty Sunday while fighting a house fire early in the morning at a home on Maria Road.
Connecticut State Police are investigating the circumstances that led to Moreau's death when a piece of a firetruck fell onto him, causing "catastrophic injuries."
Connecticut's chief medical examiner ruled the death an accident, saying Moreau died of blunt force trauma to the head, neck, torso and extremities.
Moreau died during surgery at the Hospital of Central Connecticut in New Britain.
Moreau was a 35-year department veteran.
