Police in New London say a Navy sailor admits to killing his wife, then setting their Sherman St. home on fire with the couple's 13-month-old baby inside. The baby was saved by firefighters.
A police incident report says George Dodson, 23, admits to committing those crimes on Wednesday night, claiming he became jealous after he and his wife opened their relationship to other partners.
In the report, Dodson tells police he killed his wife, 23, with a hammer and knife, then torched the home, leaving the baby to die.
He's being held on $3 million bail, facing charges including murder, arson and attempted murder.
The child was transported to Lawrence + Memorial Hospital, before being transferred to Yale New Haven Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
