Hamden, Conn./WTIC Radio - Hamden police say they've arrested a juvenile suspect after a lengthy investigation into a pair of robberies last year in which the suspect lured victims by using Facebook Marketplace.
The first incident occurred December 22.
The unsuspecting victim was in contact with the suspect about a car purchase when the person was robbed by two males on gunpoint on Quentin Street.
Two days later, on December 24, another person reported an armed stickup on Moulton Street, also under the ruse of a car purchase.
Police urge prospective online buyers or sellers to meet in a public place, preferably well-lit with surveillance cameras, bring someone along, and don't carry large amounts of cash.
Many police departments also offer their parking lots to use for such transactions.
