PORTLAND, Conn. (WTIC Radio) - The Town of Portland appoints a new first selectman while also honor a tragic loss in the community.
Shaun Manning, the man who was originally going to take over the job, was struck and killed in a crash on December 18th. He was also a well-known fireman in Portland.
The town is tapping Michael Pelton to take over the role.
Known in the community as a local business owner and long-running selectman in town, Pelton says he's looking to address key issues that affect business, education, and quality of life issues in the community.
