HAMDEN, Conn. (WTIC Radio)_ About 20 Qunnipiac University students are being sent home for the rest of the semester after attending a recent large gathering that violated numerous COVID-19 safety measures.

In a statement released Sunday, school officials say the large gathering happened at Anthony's Ocean View on Thursday, with other university students in attendance.

Quinnipiac has been able to identify approximately 20 students who were at the event. The school is working to identify any other students who may have attended, as well. Any other students who are found to have gone will also be sent home.

Health officials have closed Anthony's Ocean View indefinitely, after officials say there was little mask wearing and social distancing.

School officials continue to investigate.
