STORRS, Conn. (WTIC Radio) - It's a new record of potential Huskies at the University of Connecticut.
UConn announces Tuesday that over 48,000 applications have been received to the Class of 2027. That's an increase of about 5,000 applications from the 43,000 applications received last year.
University officials say about 4,100 new students are expected to enroll at Storrs in the fall semester, with notable areas of growth in nursing, computer science, and business.
In addition to the Storrs-students, UConn says about 1,675 other new first-year students are anticipated at the regional campuses in Hartford, Stamford, Waterbury, and Avery Point.
UConn also plans to enroll 900 transfer students from other institutions, of which about 700 will be based at Storrs.
