COLCHESTER, Conn. (WTIC Radio) - The rest of the Bacon Academy football season is cancelled amid an investigation into possible Title IX violations.
The District has been conducting an investigation into incidents that involved the interactions of student athletes from two athletic teams, according to a written statement from Superintendent Jeffrey Burt.
Officials say they are following protocol in the investigation into allegations of Title IX violations.
While the District has completed the initial investigation of certain allegations, district officials have learned of multiple additional allegations that must be investigated.
The new allegations require staff to remain on paid administrative leave until further notice.
As a result, the remainder of the football season has been cancelled, according to the statement Superintendent Burt released.
The cancellation of the season includes the anticipated game between Bacon Academy and rival RHAM High School, an annual Thanksgiving Day game.
