(Manchester, Conn. WTIC)-A Springfield man faces double- murder charges for a shooting incident in a commuter parking lot in Manchester during the summer.
Connecticut State Police arrested Gregory Chrichlow , 21, for the shooting that killed Gregory Scott, 24 of Springfield and Jennifer Hicks, 20, of Chicopee Massachusetts. They were shot 1:50 in the morning on August 8th as they sat in a Jeep. Chrichlow was arrested during a motor vehicle stop in Hartford Saturday night. Police relied on security video tapes and a license plate reader.
The affidavit indicates several cars were parked in the Buckland Street commuter lot in Manchester. Police say cars would travel in large packs to different stops to show off modifications made to their vehicles. Apparently those car meetups, called "races", began in Springfield. Chrichlow, who went by the name "Steel Gunna" on Facebook, was a member of the Knox Street Posse and Scott associated with the Sycamore Street Posse. State Police says the two gangs have a history of violence and retaliatory shootings.
The owner of the Jeep who was inside the vehicle at the time, described the shooter as being a "short, fat Latino guy", with a beard. Chrichlow is 5-10, 225 pounds. Security video footage from a gas station where Chrichlow and Scott were chatting, also determined that Chrichlow's vehicle followed the Jeep prior to the shooting.
