New Britain, Conn./WTIC Radio - Officials were on hand Thursday in New Britain to announce a series of safety upgrades along the CTfastrak system.
A new private security firm is being brought in expand coverage along CTfastrak as well as the CTtransit.
In addition, improvements will be made at waiting shelters in New Britain, and to the Sigourney, Parkville, and Flatbush stations in Hartford.
New lighting along the pedestrian walkway is also pegged for downtown New Britain and Columbus Boulevard.
There are already two designated state troopers assigned to CTfastrak, along with a security center in New Britain and camera access at state police Troop H in Hartford.
