HARTFORD, Conn. (WTIC Radio) - U.S. Senator Chris Murphy (D-CT) and his wife of 17 years, Catherine Holahan, are separating.
In a statement from a spokesperson, Murphy and Holahan are doing so "...with deep care and respect for each other and a commitment to remain friends and loving co-parents to their sons."
The couple is asking for privacy as their family navigates "this new chapter."
Murphy and Holahan met at the University of Connecticut Law School and married in 2004.
The news comes just over a week since Murphy was elected to his third term in the U.S. Senate. He previously spent six years in Congress.
